Last Saturday when I went home, I saw mom talking frantically over the phone, pacing
to and fro the kitchen area. I was curious so I eavesdropped a little and realised my
mom was talking to my uncle, telling how the dog he gave us, a Jack Russell breed by
the way, actually saved her life.
It happened when my mom went on her normal routine of cleaning dog crap in the cage where she needs to wash it with water and brush, so having the dog in the cage makes the job impossible. While she goes about cleaning, she opened the cage to let the dog out, opens the tap to let the water run and starts brushing when she heard a weird noise not so far away from her. She turned to the direction of the noise and was horrified to see a snake dangling from the dog's mouth flinging from left to right and right to left, and in the process beating the dog's own body thus creating the *piak piak piak* noise my mom heard. My mom panicked and jumped up and down, shouting to the dog to get back to the cage because she was afraid the dog might be bitten as there were blood all over the dog's body. The dog didn't give up and continued shaking the snake so hard till it became a bones, skin and internal organs mess. Finally the dog stopped and went to my mom and she quickly put the dog back into the cage. She then used a metal pick to put the snake's body (did I mention a cobra?) into a plastic bag for disposal and quickly took the dog for a bath once she was done with it.
She then checked on the dog to see if there is any snake bites. Luckily she couldn't find any and the dog seemed to be normal except for looking a bit tired than usual. After this incident, my mom said she won't be complaining about spending so much on dog food and getting only dog crap in return from the dogs anymore because she now knows how important these dogs meant to her, especially this very very special dog, Toto!
